Purposeful Politics: Upcoming Events To Help You Hold Your Government Accountable

Dear Friends,
Let’s do right in 2017! Your time is valuable, so I’m sharing some upcoming opportunities where you can have the most impact on our political process and check into how your public servants are serving.

Saturday, February 11th, 9:30am – Precinct Mass Meetings
This is the first step in the spring convention cycle, where the Georgia Republican Party elects all new leadership at the precinct, county, district, and state level. Be a part of the process and make your voice heard – what do you want Georgia Republicans to represent? (Constitutionally limited and financially responsible government is my goal.)

DeKalb voters: pre-register here until 8pm tonight (Friday), meeting at Lakeside High School, 3801 Briarcliff Road, Atlanta GA 30345.
Fulton voters: check your house district here, meeting at one of 5 locations based on house district. HD80 voters will be at Heritage Sandy Springs, 6110 Bluestone Road, Sandy Springs GA 30328. (See below for other locations)

Saturday, February 11th, 6pm – GAGOP Chairman’s Debate at Lumpkin County Park & Recreation Building, Heritage Room, 365 Riley Road, Dahlonega GA 30533. Hear from all four candidates seeking to lead the Georgia Republican Party for the next two years.

Monday, February 13th, 7pm – DeKalb Young Republicans monthly meeting at Olde Blind Dog, 705 Town Blvd, Brookhaven GA 30319. Speaker: House District 80 State Representative Meagan Hanson. Our new rep has been assigned to the Judiciary, Transportation, and Special Rules Committees, so bring your questions and concerns about policies and process, especially as they relate to Brookhaven, Sandy Springs, and Chamblee.

Monday, February 20th – Georgia Tea Party meeting at House of Lu, 89 Cherokee St., Marietta GA 30060. Speaker: Your humble servant Catherine Bernard. I’ll be talking about the current legislative session – the good, the bad, and the ugly. We’ll focus on specific bills and discuss priorities for activists who want to reduce government control over our lives.

Monday, March 13th, 7pm – DeKalb Young Republicans monthly meeting at Olde Blind Dog, 705 Town Blvd, Brookhaven GA 30319. Speaker: DeKalb County District 7 Commissioner Gregory Adams. He’ll be updating us on his first few months as a commissioner and the state of DeKalb politics. Bring questions and concerns!

Monday, April 17th, 7pm – DeKalb Young Republicans monthly meeting at Olde Blind Dog, 705 Town Blvd, Brookhaven GA 30319. Speaker: Senate District 40 State Senator Fran Millar. He’ll be going over the 2017 legislative session (which will likely be over by this time) – another great time for questions and concerns.

Thanks so much for your support for these efforts – one of the best way to deal with the current political climate is by bringing thoughtful people together to consider solutions. I hope you’ll consider attending one or more of these events, and bring a friend or neighbor if you can! Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Warm regards,
